What an awesome day!  Wendy and I hung out with my friend Matthew who lives in Boston.  Matthew is an amazing violinist who studies at/is graduating from the New England Conservatory.  We spent the entire day taking trains, walking the streets, visiting buildings, eating the food, people watching, and listening to live music.

Wendy's notes:

What a perfect day in Boston!  It was so great to spend time with Joel's long time friend, Matthew, and see some of Boston.  We ate, we walked, we sat, we talked, we ate more, we walked more, we rode the T, we walked more, we ate more.....you get the idea.  We started at the Library, which was quite an amazing building.  The fountain pictures were taken there.  Then we went to the Gardens and the Common, where we stumbled on a band playing Jazz tunes in the park, and then to Harvard.  We ate several times along the way and rode the T several times as well.  It was humid so once in a while when the sun came out it was pretty sweltering, but otherwise it was about perfect.  I could have take SO many more photos (the swan boats, the duck tour buses, the amazing architecture, heck - our food!), but I don't like to get too carried away.

This is the statue of John Harvard on the Harvard campus.  Funny story - we had trouble getting a picture because everyone around us kept posing for pictures with a hand on the boot (note the copper color where the metal has been worn).  Matthew said it was a "thing" and we should go touch the boot, but when we asked why (thank goodness!) he looked it up and though I still can't tell you why people do it, we quit reading and walked away after finding out it's also a "thing" for people to pee on it!  Yeah, we passed on touching the boot, thanks anyway.

I love this photo we took while riding the T because we are all in it (some more than others, haha).  If you lean forward and squint you will see me in the picture Matthew had just taken and was showing us as I snapped my photo.
