We went to Baileys Island, Oors Island, and Great Island today. All of these islands are south of Brunswick/Topsham and they are *beautiful*. And we found out that we actually could "get theyah from heeyah!". Luckily there was a road that connected some of the major islands. The New England coast is one of the most gorgeous things, and these people are certainly lucky to live here!
This is the statue outside Land's End gift shop. It is a "memorial to all Maine fishermen who have devoted their lives to the sea."
In the afternoon/evening we hung out with two awesome friends, Mark, and his partner Rob. There is a local gelato shop that we went to before going to dinner (that's how they do it in Maine) at a new place called "Frontier". I got really excited on the way back to the hotel because I saw a sign on the side of a building that said "Body Pump". I looked it up, and sure enough it was a gym that offered the Les Mills series. The name of the gym? Women's Fitness Studio and Spa. Ugh!
Getting ready here in Maine takes WAY longer than in AZ. First, the whole bathroom steams up and I can't see myself in the mirror. Then, though I have dried off in the bathroom, I have to step out to actually get dry for real before getting completely dressed. Quite some time later when I finally feel dry I step in to do makeup. By the time I'm done with that, I'm sweating again and need to step out and cool down before doing my hair. Mind you it's only in the 50's outside. While drying my hair I have to redirect the air to my face every 30-60 seconds to dry the sweat so that my hair will actually dry the way I want. Finally, I try to hurry and spray my hair before it starts to curl from the humidity steaming off my scalp. I am never as uncomfortably hot in AZ as I was this spring morning in Maine. Gah!
